Budget makeover ideas that work in any room
- Paint is the cheapest transformation — walls, but also doors, trim, cabinets and even tile (with the right primer).
- Swap the "jewelry": handles, knobs, switch plates, faucets and light fixtures.
- Hang curtains high and wide to make windows and ceilings look bigger.
- Add molding — picture frames, wainscoting or a simple chair rail.
- Replace one statement piece — a headboard, a mirror, a light — rather than everything.
